Swiss podiatrist Maud Falconnet saw firsthand how frustrating fungal nail treatment could be, for both patients and clinicians. After repeatedly encountering cases where conventional treatments failed to deliver lasting results, she was convinced there had to be a better way.

Rather than accept the status quo, Maud set out to develop a new clinical approach to treating nail pathologies, including stubborn fungal infections. Her work led to the creation of the Poderm Method, a patented treatment protocol designed to improve outcomes in dystrophic and fungal nails, and the foundation of what would become the Poderm brand.

The History of Poderm: From Local Clinic to International Recognition

In 2015, Maud Falconnet opened the Poderm clinic, specialising in complex and difficult nail conditions. The following year, she formalised her clinical approach into what became the patented Poderm Method, a structured protocol for treating dystrophic and fungal nails more effectively.

By 2017, the first Poderm Fungal Nails Serum was launched, allowing patients to continue treatment at home alongside professional care. As results gained recognition, demand grew.

In 2018, Poderm expanded into pharmacies, making its products more accessible. The introduction of the Colour Care range in 2021 was another step forward – permeable varnishes that enables patients to continue treatment even while wearing coloured polish, something previously difficult with many antifungal products.

International expansion followed in 2022, and in 2025 Poderm received the Innovation Award at the Podiatry Trade Show for its Nail Fungus Pen (developed to make application easier and improve treatment consistency).

Swiss Innovation Through Patented Technology

So how does this Swiss clinical innovation translate into results for patients today? It comes down to the technology behind the treatment.

Poderm products use MIMETIX® technology, designed to mimic the natural defence and renewal processes of the skin and nails. This approach supports treatment of onychomycosis (fungal nail infection) while promoting healthy nail regeneration.

Unlike many surface-level topical products, Poderm formulations are designed to work with the nail’s natural structure. Poderm treatment for fungal nails is formulated with 100% natural origin ingredients and is developed without water or alcohol, helping maintain nail integrity while targeting infection.

PODERM® products hold ISO 13485 certification (a recognised medical quality standard). Clinically evaluated in podiatry settings, Poderm delivers reliable results with high levels of tolerance.
