Toenail Reconstruction

toenail reconstruction Cambridge

We will restore the natural look of your nail while protecting the delicate nail bed underneath with toenail reconstruction (aka Onychoplasty).

Restore Damaged Toenails with Onychoplasty

Onychoplasty is a specialist podiatry technique used to rebuild part or all of a damaged nail. At Cutting Edge Podiatry in Cambridge, we use a technical resin to reconstruct the missing section of the nail. This creates a natural-looking nail. Toenail reconstruction:

  • Improves appearance

  • Protects the fragile nail bed, while healthy nails grow

  • Restores the nail’s protective function, particularly when wearing footwear

The reconstructed nail looks like a regular full toenail and it can be filed and shaped for a smooth finish.

When to Consider Nail Reconstruction

You should consider toenail reconstruction if if your nail has been:

  • Damaged by trauma

  • Affected by fungal infection (for example after a Poderm Treatment)

  • Partially destroyed or removed

  • Thin or fragile

Many clients choose nail reconstruction because they want to feel confident again in sandals, at the gym, on holiday, or simply barefoot at home. It is both practical and cosmetic. You get protection and a natural appearance at the same time.

Book Toenail Reconstruction in Cambridge

If you would like to restore the look and function of a damaged nail, we are here to help. Nail Reconstruction in Cambridge is available as a stand-alone appointment or as an add-on appointment after Poderm treatment of fungal nails.

Appointments take up to 30 minutes and 1-2 nails can be treated during each appointment (see up-to-date pricing here).

What is the difference between Nail Reconstruction and Onychoplasty?

They are the same treatment. Onychoplasty is the clinical name for nail reconstruction.

Will the reconstructed nail look natural?

Yes. The resin is shaped and finished to resemble a natural nail. Most people cannot tell the difference at a glance.

Is Nail Reconstruction painful?

No. The procedure is gentle and designed to protect the sensitive nail bed.

Can I wear nail varnish?

Yes. Poderm nail varnish can be applied over the reconstructed nail during your Poderm treatment.

Can anyone have toenail reconstruction?

Most people with partial or damaged nails are suitable, but we will assess your nail health first to ensure Onychoplasty is appropriate for you.
